Kogarah Bay Automotive is conveniently located on Port Hacking Road in miranda. Our car service workshop is on the north bound side of the road, halfway between miranda Westfield and Southgate Shopping Centre. We are located just past the miranda fiveways on the left hand side before you reach Hungry Jacks at Box Road. Just look for the red truck on Port Hacking Rd and take the next driveway up to Unit 4. Otherwise, look out for Colortile as we are in the same building complex.
The miranda car service has been around since 1992 when Wayne Shaw left Qantas to start up the business still known as Kogarah Bay Automotive. Wayne was working for Qantas as a Aircraft Engineer and servicing Kogarah Bay Automotive residents vehicles in his spare time. When the car servicing started to expand Wayne left Qantas to work full time in the business.
The Kogarah Bay Automotive car service soon grew requiring a larger site so we moved to the Caltex Service Station at Blakehurst on the Princes Highway. The business was flat out constantly with a number or regular customers from all over the St George/Sutherland Shire areas plus also dealing with new customers passing by on the busy Princes Highway. The three bay workshop was still not big enough to cope with the volume of work
After 4 years at Blakehurst we purchased a 10 car factory and set up the new workshop in miranda, where we are still currently operating from. We still service a large number of customers cars from the St George area who are happy to travel the 5km over to miranda to see us.
During our time in miranda, our car service client base and offering has continued to grow. For a number of years Kogarah Bay Automotive serviced all the 350 Hertz Campervan vehicles Australia wide. This very demanding job required a quick turnaround car service and we became very efficient in the workshop with all requirements of the vehicle servicing.
After a while, realising customers were only getting part of the service they required, we sat down and worked out which supplementary items customers required when coming in for a service - such as new Tyres and Batteries, Green Slips (as part of the registration of vehicles service). Our service offering was further increased with latest tyre equipment and machinery, allowing for professional wheel balancing and wheel alignment service. The workshop can now provide or obtain access to all services needed for the safe and efficient running of all your vehicles to become a "one stop shop".
Always under the same owner, Kogarah Bay Automotive is a family run business with Wayne's wife, Jane, always involved in the day to day running and Wayne's mother, Isabel, also assisting in management by running the bookkeeping.
