Clean brake fluid not only protects your safety it also prolongs the life of your braking system components by preventing corrosion.
Your car's Brake Fluid needs to be kept clean and free of moisture in order to maximize braking efficiency, as well as prevent corrosion of your brake system components that could lead to complete brake failure. Kogarah Bay Automotive offers comprehensive brake services and repairs that use quality parts, all backed by our nationwide warranty.
The cost of a brake fluid flush depends on the vehicle type and any other additional parts, repairs or maintenance that might be needed. During the process, we'll also take the wheels off to check the calipers, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, brake lines, and master cylinder for any potential issues or signs of wear and inform you of any problems we find. If you'd like to get an estimate, just give our friendly staff a call to discuss your car.
The brake flush procedure starts by raising the car up and taking the wheels off. Then, we remove the present fluid from the master cylinder and replace it with fresh, quality brake fluid of the right type. We will then 'bleed' each brake and the clean fluid will flush through the system, completely replacing the old. We will also examine the other components of the brake system for any signs of damage or wear that require attention. A brake fluid flush may be done as part of a routine service, but we may also recommend it outside of a regular schedule if necessary.
Checking the colour of the brake fluid can be helpful, but don't rely on it alone - even if it looks clean, it might still contain a dangerous amount of water that could lead to boiling and consequent loss of braking pressure or even sudden brake failure. In this case, only a professional boiling point test can tell you the true condition of your brake fluid.
It is generally suggested to change the brake fluid every two years, however, it's best to check the condition of your brake fluid regularly. Kogarah Bay Automotive can provide you with a full 65 Point Vehicle Inspection Report, with every full car service, to ensure your safety on the road. This report gives you detailed information on the condition of your brake fluid, master cylinder, front and back discs and pads, calipers and cylinders and more, letting you know if any repairs are needed, either now or in the near future.
